How to show funds for a Schengen visa from Pakistan

What "enough money" really means, why the 6-month history matters more than today's balance, and how to explain large deposits.

What embassies look for

Consular officers want to see that you can pay for the whole trip without working illegally, and that the money is genuinely yours. They look at the pattern over months, not a single closing balance.

  • A steady balance over the last 6 months
  • Regular income such as salary, business receipts or rent
  • Enough to cover flights, stay and daily costs for every day of the trip

The deposit problem

A large amount appearing just before you apply is the most common reason files look weak. If money arrived recently, explain where it came from with documents.

Tip: A short signed letter plus proof (sale deed, gift deed with the giver's statement, or salary slips) is far better than leaving it unexplained.

Getting the statement right

Ask your branch for a stamped and signed statement for the last 6 months. Many embassies also accept a bank maintenance letter showing the account opening date and average balance.

  • Statement on bank letterhead, stamped on every page
  • Your name spelled exactly as in your passport
  • Issued within the last 2–4 weeks
General guidance only. Embassy rules change often, so always confirm with the official mission before you apply.
